Howard was the first person I photographed on my trip across the country this summer. I met him and his dog amidst the tourists and tacky shops on the boardwalk in Venice, CA. Howard sometimes stays at a friends house a few miles away but spends most of his days drifting up and down the waterfront with his dog Charles.

Howard got super excited when I asked to photograph him and said he was totally fine with me posting his pictures online but there was one condition. I had to include his nickname “The King of America” in the caption.

So here he is, The King of America in all of his glory!
