A few weeks ago I drove out to Michigan to shoot a story for Bloomberg Businessweek on a woman named Ali Sholtis. Ali is a TikTok influencer that’s slightly addicted to buying kitschy trinkets on TEMU. Her social videos have gone so viral that she’s even been able to quit her day job & create a revenue stream for herself based on partnership commissions through TikTok’s shops…but she now fears tariffs & a potential trade war might have an impact on her business.
